Acrylonitrile-co-butadiene-co-styrene (ABS) terpolymer/poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET) blends were modified using the styrene-acrylonitrile-glycidyl methacrylate (SAG) and styrene-acrylonitrile-maleic anhydride (SMA) terpolymer as compatibilizers.
Then, the mechanical properties in terms of the tensile strength, flexural strength and modulus, notched impact strength, melting flow rate (MFR) and morphology were studied in order to verify the compatibility effect between SAG and SMA.
The Formula of the specimens
Result 1: No big differences between SAG and SMA modified ABS/PET blends were observed in the tensile strength, flexural strength and modulus.
Figure 1-2. The effect of SAG and SMA on the tensile and bending property of ABS/PET alloy.
Result 2: The impact strength of SAG modified ABS/PET alloy was much higher (181 J/m) than that of SMA (119 J/m) modified syst
